Carrier Connection Setup

Connect your Twilio or Telnyx phone numbers to Orbitali.

Orbitali operates on a Bring Your Own Carrier (BYOC) model. Rather than forcing you to buy phone numbers from a third-party markup pool, you connect your existing Twilio or Telnyx accounts.

Orbitali automates the configuration of the phone numbers, meaning you do not have to manually copy webhook URLs or manage API secrets.

Telnyx Connection

Orbitali uses Telnyx OAuth and Call Control applications to orchestrate calls.

1. Authorize connection via OAuth

  1. Go to Phone Numbers in your developer dashboard.
  2. Click Connect Carrier and choose Telnyx.
  3. You will be redirected to the Telnyx portal to authorize Orbitali to manage call control settings on your account.
  4. Once authorized, you are redirected back to the Orbitali dashboard, and your carrier connection status will show as connected.
  1. In the dashboard, click on your connected Telnyx account.
  2. Orbitali queries the Telnyx API and displays all voice-capable phone numbers available in your Telnyx inventory.
  3. Click Link Number next to the phone number you want to use.
  4. Automated configuration: Orbitali will automatically:
    • Create or update an Orbitali Call Control Application inside your Telnyx account.
    • Point the application's webhook endpoints to the Orbitali voice agent service.
    • Re-assign the selected phone number to that Call Control Application.
  5. The number is now linked and ready to route calls.

Twilio Connection

Orbitali uses Twilio Connect Apps to manage Twilio incoming phone numbers.

1. Authorize connection via Connect Apps

  1. Go to Phone Numbers in your developer dashboard.
  2. Click Connect Carrier and choose Twilio.
  3. You will be redirected to Twilio to authorize the Orbitali Connect App to access your account metadata and modify incoming phone settings.
  4. Once authorized, you are redirected back to the dashboard, and your connection status will show as connected.
  1. Click on your connected Twilio account in the dashboard.
  2. Orbitali lists all active incoming phone numbers under your Twilio account.
  3. Click Link Number next to the phone number you want to use.
  4. Automated configuration: Orbitali will automatically update the phone number configuration in your Twilio console:
    • Voice Webhook: Sets voiceUrl to the Orbitali ingress webhook (e.g., https://api.orbitali.ai/v1/telephony/twilio/voice).
    • HTTP Method: Sets voiceMethod to POST.
  5. The number is now linked.

Telephony Cost & Billing

BYOC ensures you are not double-billed or locked into expensive markup plans:

  1. Carrier Invoices: You pay Twilio or Telnyx directly for your phone number leases, inbound call connection fees, and network transit. Orbitali does not mark up these fees.
  2. Orbitali Invoices: Orbitali bills you a flat runtime rate of 0.10€ per minute of handled conversation.
  3. Billing Increment: Handled call usage is calculated and rounded to the nearest 30-second increment per call.
